Is there any difference between the red label Mercury 4 stroke oil that you buy in the oil change kit and the Quicksilver off the shelf.
Same question with the oil filters.

Here is my take on understanding and attempting answering your question. Mercury has a 25/40 weight oil that is dino oil. It is sold under both labels. Mercury has a 25/40 weight oil that is a synthetic blend that is sold under both labels. You should choose which oil you will use and not mix them. In my opinion the synthetic blend is the better oil. The best price I have found on the two Mercury oils is wall mart. Hope this helps.
The Mercury branded oil and filters are sold through dealers. The QuickSilver branded oil is the same but is sold through through retail outlets like Walmart and Academy stores. It's the same product, just different packaging.
