Please, look, which rod should I buy for light hair jigs, 3/16 to 1/4 oz.

They are both rated the same ML/Fast 1/8 to ½ oz. The top one is a St Croix 7' ½ and the bottom is a 7' Dobyns.

Do I really need that much butt? Excluding the handle, wouldn't the actual rod part be about the same?

Well I am not sure on how different the actual butt lengths would compare not seeing in person but if it was me I would go with the longer st croix rod. Seth Fieder from the elite series has a bunch of videos out talking about small jigs and he swears by 7'6" rods. I think it makes it easier to cast such a light jig farther.

I've never held a Doybns rod before.
The St Croix has a xtra fast tip and is called a hair jig rod.
FYI. If your pulling the trigger soon. Tw has thier gift cards 10% off until the 7th. I'm going to buy a card tomorrow and then get 10% of a few rods.
