    Winch Strap

Well after almost 6 years, my strap is getting a bit tattered, plus I broke the spring loaded safety tab off.

So do I do the strap or the whole winch? Just curious.

You should be able to get a new strap only from your local boats sales store, or on the internet stores. Look at the gear teeth of the winch, if they are worn buy a new winch. On my old boat the teeth were worn so bad they started slipping, and they were also cracked.

you can easly fix the spring and replace the strap but I choose to upgrade from the 1600 to the 2000lb, the 721 probably has an 1800lb with the basic handle and latch, I really like this new one with the adjustable handle, and the neutral position on the gears

Pretty sure if you contact Fulton they will send you what you need, no charge. They helped me a few times with parts.

I'm upgrading the winch. If I go on the way I am certain of ahernia. One other thing, my stock winch, I notice it is mounted cock-eyed. The winch strap does pull straight away on the bow eye so it contacts one side of the winch roller. I have 50 hours on this boat and my strap is a little tattered already.

I never thought about that! I found the strap for $32 or so, but mine is a 1-7/8 wide strap. I am not getting any younger, so why fight that sucker to get the boat snugged up!

With regards to a 2000lb winch, how much do you think the bow eye can handle. 618 bird and have a tough time getting it up tight. Would hate to pull the eye out.
    Sorry for the hijacking

They have different ratings depending on size. My guess would be a minimum of 3200 pounds.

Here’s the link to the pdf online. It will be much clearer.

You'll pull that bow eye out of the fiberglass before failing the eye itself.

The Fulton f2 big winch is amazing. I put it on my 921 right away and love putting it in the 2nd speed and cranking the boat up instead of power loading

This was my concern, pulling through the fibreglass, not to worried about the actual eye bolt breaking.
    Thanks for the replies.
