    2002 Blazer 210 Pro V/2006 Yamaha 300 HPDI

Bought a new to me boat. 2002 Blazer Pro V with a 2006 HPDI 300 with a 12" Atlas hydraulic jackplate. Looking for setup and props for my elevation since i bought it in alabama. I living in idaho and fish lakes with 3,000 feet elevations. Boat currently has a Yamaha 29p T-1 3 blade. Ive been reading up with blazer boats and everyone seems to perfer 4 blades for speed and load. I fish tournaments so im looking for the best in speed for full fuel, livewells, 20 rods, 2 guys, and about 30 lbs in tackle.

    Thanks guys.

It really helps to know what your baseline is. What’s it running that T1?

3,000 feet isn’t a terrible loss, get to five and they fall off a lot.

Maybe a 200 rpm change from sea level.

Its running 72 @6k. Ive played around with the hydraulic jack plate and found the sweet spot. How do i get more speed but less rpms? Ive been told to not run over 5800 rpms and these boats have been running in the mid 80s

    Internet experts....
that motor is just fine running six grand.
So just to make sure before I spend your money.
Is 6,009 wide full open? Or that’s all you pushed it?
Regardless those are terrible slip numbers. 27 inch prop twisting six grand should be all over 80.
Something is amiss. Let’s figure it out.

    Sorry for typo.
That makes it even worse. A 29 spinning six grand is nearly 90.
You’re having a big slip problem.
Could/probably be a little high on motor height.
Big high rooster tail? Really stiff steering? Boat running flat to the water?
You’re set too high. Boat setup is finding what too high and too low is and bringing it back. Only way you’ll know what exactly right is. Find what optimum is for that prop and then you’ll know what exactly what you’ve got.

Rooster tail is about cowling level. Steering isnt stiff and the nose comes up when trimmed up.

    Well something is amiss.
Your prop is 90% of your performance and yours isn’t working.

If you can borrow a known good 27 tempest or Yamaha m you’d have something decent to compare.

I can move my hydraulic jackplate up and down and watch the rpms. When i go below 6k and get to 5800, i lose speed

That’s fine. What you’re describing is a very suspect prop.

    Did you run it?
    Something is just off.
Could be your tach could be something blocking water to the prop but without something to compare against it’s hard to start.

James, you must have found a smoking deal on your Blazer to come all the way to Alabama to get it.

    What city in Alabama?

This might sound a little rough but I think you need some reality.

I’ve rigged out a couple of blazers. It’s a good running boat but none of them turned a 29T1. 27 was the right number that got a mid 80’s rig. Just because something is stamped does not mean it’s fact.

Lol i need reality? Do you want me to send you a picture of the damn prop, Pat? Why are you such a a$$hole? Seriously! Me and several other 300s here in idaho are turning 29p T1's. Tach was verified yesterday that its in good working order.

Iwhat i dont get why you have to have a attitude or act like a ***** to everyone looking for advice. If my prop is a yamaha t1 and the original owner bought the prop brand new (have the original box and receipt) and was never been worked, who the hell are you to question it?

The guy lived in alabama but had a house in nashville. He drove the boat up to nashville where i purchased it.

And yes, i got a damn good deal on it. ;)
