    USA What is Flashed?

    What is this Flashed. I read the article and don't have any idea what this talk about flashed is all about! Can somebody explain?

    It's a computer program that will increase the HP of the Yamaha SHO engines. Basically the SHO's are detuned to meet regulations and specs. You send the engines computer off and they "flash" it for more horsepower.

    Does this not hurt the motor?? Just seems like cranking it up to even higher Rpms than normal couldn’t be good for it. I don’t really know though just speculation. Love to hear more about this.

    "The bulb that burns brighter burns shorter" so making more power or turning more rpm's is going to theoretically shorten the life of valvesprings and rod bolts/bearings, that being said the 300hp tune with stock limiter would be as safe as how it came from Yamaha being that's the off shore model...
