    Garmin 93sv plus wiring.

I am trying to hook up power to my new 93 SV. It has a brown and blue wire along with the red and black. It doesnt tell me what to do with the blue or brown wires. Can someone tell me? I have been all through the garmin website already.

Leave the brown and blue alone. Make sure the ends are not exposed and tape them off.....

Brown and blue wires (data cable) are used to share way points between units.

I find it interesting that Garmin still has the brown and blue wires on the harness if they don’t do anything? Hmmm!

So will the units still share data if the blue and brown wires are hooked up between units?

Word from Garmin repeatedly is NO. I think what they did was just use the same power cable from the earlier two versions instead of making a new one. There may not be anything internally connected to those pins and certainly the software to operate over those wires is not there. It's programmed to use ethernet.

So I’m going to need an Ethernet backbone and extra cables or there is a connecter that goes from one to the other. I also have Panoptics and they plug into the same connections.

Just to power up your unit you only need the red and black to the battery.
Would only need the Ethernet cable if you were connecting to another unit.

With 3 EC+ units and Panoptix ducer (not sure which one), you would need the GMS 10 and connect all 3 units plus Panoptix to. Then all units will share waypoints, sonar and panoptix.

Oh yes, it was in back of my head as i was typing just forgot to post that......

He will need to figure out what length is needed especially since the Panoptix cable wont be long enough IF the GMS10 is mounted near the console.

As correctly stated on this thread as well as numerous others, 7x/9x Plus units will not share wpts via Garmin High Speed Protocol (using the brown and blue wires). However, these wires on the echoMAP Plus 7x/9x units still function as NMEA 0183 receive (brown) and transmit (blue). For example, a VHF radio would be one of the more common NMEA 0183 devices.

I’m starting to piece together my network now. My Panoptix cable is short in reaching my gms10. I know I need a rj45 coupler to extend the cable but at $40 bucks I’m trying to save a little cash. Does anyone use a non-Garmin coupler to connect their cables or is that just a bad idea?
    Thanks for your continued help.
