Do you have one of those one step cutter ? I knew a guy that sold them at fairs and events and he had the slicer and made good money doing it .

I have not been into Outback since restaurant chains had to post the calories on their dishes. I bet the fried Bloomin' Onion there is the most unhealthful food known to man.

We cannot get over how much we use the new air fryer in our kitchen. It's used many times per day, especially for snacks and fries for grandkids. Frozen onion rings also do great in them.

I'll have to make up some batter to do a blooming onion.

Smoked blooming onions are awesome! I core the center out, then slice the onion down to about 1/2" in a star pattern to form the "petals." Put a pad of butter and a beef bouillon cube in the center. Coat the outside with oil and your favorite seasoning.

Put the onions on the grill with whatever smoke you like and cook at 300F - 350F until the onions open up. You can cook at a lower temp if you want more smoke exposure. It really carries over.

Man I gotta try that. Any advice on how long or what to look for regarding doneness ?

They are delicious. Cook until the onion opens up like a flower. You can cook until it's the tenderness that you want.
