    Shearwater set up

New boat for me, ‘17 Shearwater X22, selling my trusty Z21 Ranger, to do saltwater along with bass fishing. I have a lot of questions. I’m hoping to use an 80lb trust ultera riptide I believe is the saltwater version. The new Ranger Intra coastal comes w an 80lb minkota so that’s what I’m basing my thoughts on. Any thoughts or comments?

I can't leave anything stock, I can't leave well enough alone.
I need to customize everything. I think I can improve others
    designs, sometimes.

Are you opposed to a 36v motor?

IMHO, an 80lb 24V trolling motor is underpowered for a 22' boat, even a relatively light/shallow one like your Shearwater.

Without a doubt, I'd be going going with the 36V 101lb trolling motor. You can do it now, or you can do it later.

80 is underpowered as already mentioned. Unless you already own the 80 you will be making a big mistake IMHO. The downside to the ultra is that it has no transducer. If you wand a fish finder you will have to get real clever mounting. It can be done. I have the ultra and love it, Great motor.
