Looking for a new rod for drop shotting. My 6'6" casting rods I feel are a little to short. Any suggestions on rod length and action?

Depending on the weight your using i would look at the St Croix 7 foot SCV lite for weights up to 3/16 oz and med lite for anything heavier within reason. Batson has some blanks that qualify also if you build your own as does Northfork composites and many other companies.
I need something that will handle 1/4 weights for windy days. It sounds like I would need a med/lite rod.

I fish 1/8th oz. jig with a 7' medium light rod, and 1/4 oz. jig on a 7' medium rod, but I like the feel of a faster tip and heavier action. A denser blank is usually a little heavier and more sensitive.

Sometimes I'll use 3/8 or 1/2oz weights on a Dobyns 701,, perfect crappie drop rod. . Any 7' light with a fast tip works well
G Rods in 7' medium and 7' medium light and Shimano 500 series reels.

Cabela's sells a konakee salmon rod that is perfect. They come in 7 footers and 7-1/2footers. It is in their guide series of rods. A Daiwa Pixy or Shimano 50 size baitcaster makes an excellent combo. I also like them as a walleye rod.
