Do light hair jigs work around here? Thinking of getting 7' 6" medium light fast rod.

I keep reading that in the upper mid-west, it's the thing to do for big smallies. It'll probably be a st. croix mojo bass 7'6 medium light spinning rod. For jigs 1/8 to 3/8 oz.

I haven't personally tried yet despite owning a handful, but I know a few guys that have been doing really well with them the past few weeks. They're running a rotation of small hair jigs and blade baits. Going to pick some more up this week, along with some other things, and give them a try this weekend if the weather cooperates. I think that rod you spec'd would do just fine for them, pending the jigs you'll use are all light gauge wire hooks.
