    Fuel Line Replacement

I just ordered new fuel line for my Ranger 482V that still has the original fuel line from 1992. Before I tackle the job I wanted to see if there are any tips for doing this to make the job go smoothly. What is a good tool to cut the lines clean and straight? Is there a way to avoid spilling fuel into the hull when removing the old lines? Thanks!!

I just replaced the line in my 461 a few month ago. I wanted a oem Mercury primer bulb and regular fuel line instead of the grey stuff that most places use on premade fuel lines.

Cut the fuel fuel line with these.

Crimp on hose clamps because worm gear clamps are junk.

    Crimp them with these.

I used these where the hose goes on the barb fitting coming out of the tank.

    +1 on what Jacob461 says.
You will never regret using these clamps!
All your friends will want you to replace all of their clamps after they find out your secret.

Thank you for the responses on this. I may try a lower priced line cutter since this is the only time I will be using them.

I will use the crimp style hose clamps.

Ended up getting some cutters from Home Depot that work good but for the life of me I can't find the right size Oetiker/single ear hose clamps. Had Napa order me some that were supposed to be for 3/8" fuel line and they were too small (made for a thinner hose). I did some research and thought I had it figured out and ordered some 5/8" Oetiker clamps from Amazon but they were too small. They would almost fit over the fuel line but were too small. Can somebody post a link or the correct size to use for a Shields 368 3/8" Fuel Hose USCG A1-15??
