I did just one time, only once.....then I woke up to my darn dog licking my face and realized yep imagine that just another dream
My Dad had an 8lb13 oz...
Cass County farm pond around 1963.

There was an 11lbr caught in a tournament at 12 mile in june of 2017. Unfortunately I believe it died because it was held out of the water too long for pictures. Could be wrong on that but that's what I was told.
My PB in Iowa is around 6lbs. The batteries in my scale decided to die last winter and I found out when I went to weigh the bass
There were two 9 lb bass weighted at Lake Anita on the same day two years ago.

Lake Anita State Park (grew up not far west of there, in Atlantic and both sets of grandparents farmed around Wiota)...
Make that park loop in the winter, especially when there’s some snow on the ground...
Incredible, the number/quality of whitetails you’ll see.
One of my brother’s buddies, Bryan Hayes, is the DNR District or Regional fisheries biologist in that area, IIRC.

I believe they're here. In the southern Iowa lakes. I personally have never landed one over 6 pounds. I hooked one once that I guessed in the 7-8 pound range.
What I think is amazing is that guys can catch limits of around 25 pounds in a few lake at the right time. If you follow the pro's, a 25# limit is pretty damn good in most places in the country.

Ive heard there some in eppley airfields local pond?
Any one else hear such a thing?
Grandparents have all long since passed... But I'd probably recognize some of the names if the land has stayed in the family(s) since I was there.
Covered a LOT of that part of the world, hunting and fishing, when growing up.
My youngest (and 'young' is a relative term... He's 52. ) brother still lives in Atlantic... His son is your age.

7-8 years ago at lake Geode I weighed in a 8.23 in a tourney
There are probably some 10s in the state but I bet not many. My best was #8
