They biting for sure. I will be making a trip or 2 before the end of the week. Today - Saturday is the best tide range for the month.

We will have strong Westerly winds and this will make the water low for the next few days.
This strong wind will probably trump the tides.
It make take a day or so for the water to clear up.
I learned this as my friend has a camp down there and learned over the years how tides along with wind affects the area.

The winds will slow down and shift tonight or early Sat.
I am thinking Sunday or Monday with South to SE to East shift would be good.

    forecast
today easing to 20 to 25 knots Westerly winds.

Sat lighter South winds just not enough to clear water up.
Water gets better still will be dirty have to run to find good water.

Sunday light West to Southwest winds which West winds never good for this area especially after a heavy West winds on Thurs and Fri.

Monday winds get good and moving SE to Easterly that what you want to bring trout in.

I agree with the winds but when I find them they will be stacked up.

The bass numbers in bayou bievenue are pretty unreal but believe this.. everybody knows it.. saltwater fishermen that have never bass fished catch plenty..

i dont think I’d compare it to Venice.. average size is a pound or so.. but, my theory (provided we get no bad storms for a while) is that it will be pretty great in another year or so with the saltwater crowd thinning them out..

Been catching em for four or five years there are bigger ones there but certain areas are flooded with little ones. I guess the ones that actually grow just move on out. Also I have never seen a single
person in that area throw a bass back. 10 inches to 3 pounds of the ice. I have caught quite a few 4 plus just gotta fish different

Day one was pretty slow. Crazy high water an wind today. BB lock
was closed. Went to south shore to launch. Caught 6 small bass and one good
redfish. Didn’t get rained on much fortunately. Going to Delacroix
tomorrow to find some reds. Very slow day and a lot of water covered.

Delacroix is not easy... it has some sweet spots for sure.. took me a couple years to figure it out..I’ve some great trips on the past couple years but it’s hard to pick a random day and go get on them really good... I’m usually 1 great trip every 2-3...

Fished two days in Delacroix. First day was pretty slow. 8 reds and 1 bass. Fished 4 horse and lake john. Water was high but pretty clean. Hit a bunch of marsh ponds with little success. Did get one 33 inch red tho. My best ever.

2nd day down there brought a fk ton of high winds and plenty of rain. Got beat down in lake john and had to move at noon with no fish. Ventured over into Bottle Bayou and got on the reds pretty strong. Ended up with 20 and 2 bass. They were in the backwater ponds this time. 6 fish in each of two different ponds. Two fish over 31 inches and my son got his best one as well. Much better catching, saved our trip. Weather was horrible all three days. Have a trip booked for last week of april in Chalmette. Hoping the fish are easier to find next time. All fish came on swim jigs and gulp on at jighead. All shallow.
