WOW
Dang what a mess, I wonder how the forklift driver faired. That happened where I worked one time, not nearly as bad, employee hit a pallet rack with about 200 cases of wine on it, we had a river of wine running through the warehouse for a few seconds, that was a real mess. The racks were not secured properly and over loaded.
1987 Ranger 373V 150 Yamaha proV still going strong.
I worked in a fulfillment center that used this type of rack system. It surprisingly takes very little damage to cause them to fail. Had seen a portion of a row fall but never anything near this extent. Company must have used materials rated for lighter loads than what they had on them.
That screams "We're not spending a dime more on racks or supports, they're fine like they are"
Ranting incoherently
OSHA is goin have a hayday with that. I have seen 30 ft. tall racks get hit hard by forklifts in warehouses--- nothing happened.
They build them racks really cheap these days.....I've taken down racks that were much thicker and stronger than what took their place........
I am a engineer but that is out of my league. I will say this the company I last worked for had 3 warehouses full of production parts and materials. Racks were bolted to the floor and heaviest items were put on the lowest rack and lightest items on the top. Warehouse supervisor went around at the end of the shift to make sure no rack was over loaded.
That was like watching a Loizeaux Family/CDI event.
