    Alpaca Socks

Has anybody tried socks made from alpaca wool for hunting or ice fishing? A couple of guys said that they're the warmest socks they've ever worn and definitely worth the $30. A pair arrived in the mail yesterday. I think my hunting partner had them sent to me as a surprise. Looking forward to trying them.

Fool your friend and put on a pair of silk socks then your new alpaca socks, you won't get cold feet and they won't sweat.

I have 3 pairs. I use them to waterfowl hunt. They are the best sock I have ever worn for warmth. They are bulky so you need lots of room in boots. Worth every penny for me.

My wife is a knitter, and she made me a beanie hat for winter out of alpaca using a thin, almost sock-weight yarn. It has to be COLD for that hat to not be sufficient. It is, by far, the warmest hat I've ever owned and it's probably the thinnest/lightest too.

I wear knee high compression socks...very thin...keeps my feet from sweating...on extra cold days I will put on an extra pair of cotton ankle socks right before I put my boots on...works well for me..

Not alpaca, but I wear SmartWool Heavy Trekking socks on really cold days, and Light Hikers on mild winter days. I’ve never had any trouble with my feet sweating.

Polypropylene liner socks help to keep your feet dry and transfer moisture when you sweat. I wear them under my merino wool socks when wading for steelhead in the creeks and always stay warm and dry through entire days. I may have to try those alpaca socks sometime in place of the wool.
