    Snaps for bladed jigs?

What is everyone using besides the regular snaps? Looking at like cross lock snaps or something similar as the regular ones look like the weak like.

Using the same ones as you. Using the size 3 and they are rated at 40#. I think a 4 would be too big as I have to enlarge the holes slightly to get the size 3 in there.

What’s the trick to getting these on the blade? I can’t hardly do it with out bending the snap.

I'm not a lure maker just a lurker in this forum but remember reading an article on Aaron Martins win on the Upper Bay. He talked about replacing the snap on his Z-Man chatterbait with a heavier wire snap. He felt like the smaller diameter wire cut into his line. Makes sense to me. The Jackhammer comes with a Decoy egg snap which is heavier wire than the one on the the ZMan. #2 I believe.

I also use a #2 Evergreen wide snap that I order from Japan.

The blades I use have a different hole set up. For other blades I mash the last bend closed on the snap just a tad.

I ended up bending the closing end also. After I messed up a couple first!
