That is quite a tricky question.
What is it on? Where is the hook?
Internet advice would be suspect without more information.

Yep, more information. Is hook on pad or hull. What year and brand of boat. (Some have a built in hook) Is hook on both sides or one side only?

That would be a question that never gets answered.

Probably did when he got the quote from the dealer to fix it.

Excues the ignorance, why wouldn’t a reasonable question like that get answered?

It can get answered, but the original question was vague. There are many hulls that have hook built in the outside chines for holeshot and handling. The proper answer could come after the original question got followed up. WHAT boat? WHERE is the hook? HOW much hook are we looking at? Until that is answered, there is no answer..

Gotcha! Thanks. Some people want answers, some people are too vague to get any real answers.

The guy has asked this same hook hull question a few times in different threads and never answers the question about where the hooks at. Very odd.

I didn’t look at the name but is it the same guy that said it was about 1/2” and asked about sanding it down? People want specific answers without asking detailed questions. I’m just glad I found this place cause my questions always get answered and I’ve learned a lot on here!

The worst boat I ever owned was a '79 Ranger 198V. It was a flat running turd. Jack plate didn't help, prop changes made no difference, just a flat running, wave spearing mess.

Crawled under the hull, and it's got a huge one inch hook from the outside chines to the pad. Aha! It can't lift with all that junk hanging off the bottom. Took the grinder and took it all off.

Marine texed the open wounds, and took it to the lake.
Holeshot was a little slow, but man it started to lift! Whoohoo, here we go....got it to about 50 and it's looking good, then in a flash, it swapped ends. That wasn't fun, tried to run it another half dozen times, and regardless of what I tried to do, knowing it was coming, didn't matter, it tried to buck me off. Lesson learned, it was there for a reason.
