Two Questions. Lifting Ring and Engine Stand

    2004 125hp,

I have to pull the motor off my boat, I am wondering for a lifting ring are the cheap ebay lifting rings alright to use or should I spend the money get a one quality OEM / bob's machine shop lifting ring.

Second, anybody put a these motors on a engine stand before? I been looking the harbor fright 2000lb engine stand with the 2 legs, I seen a few people put yahamas on them but I haven't seen any mercury motors on them.

If you would, Please take a moment to review the Announcements at the top of the Forum and provide the Required Info when posting. Thanks!

Part# 904551 is the correct lifting eye- and it's not that expensive.

Not seen any Harbor-Banger stand really suitable- but you can fashion one from traditional lumber if you spend a few minutes doing a google-search, you're likely to find all the dimensions and specifications. 2x6 minimum recommended.

Not that I've seen... but I'm sure that someplace, somewhere, someone does.

Sorry I didn't read this carefully. I was thinking about the engine jack to lift the motor..... You guys are just talking about a stand. But on that note, can you rent an engine jack?

The cheap $9 rings work fine....add a proper bolt and you have flywheel puller also...As for the of stand...you will have to Fab a bracket to mount the engine
I built a stand from 2x4s and plywood...add casters and portable.... probably build it for under $30.

Bolt the motor to an engine stand using the brackets that come with the stand. Just like putting a car motor on it, you need to adjust the brackets to fit the transom bracket. Be careful moving it around, it will be top heavy.
