    Where are the waterfowl?

Migration stalled somewhere above Oklahoma. Refuge counts in Kansas are low. Birds must still be in Nebraska or Dakotas. Need a big snow to move them south. Is anyone seeing big numbers anywhere in central flyway?

Migration report said the peak migration had reached northern Missouri as of last week. We were in SE Missouri last weekend and they were not down there yet. I feel they are really changing the migration, they are keeping refuges open so they don't freeze up, putting a ton of food on the refuges. The ducks aren't migrating south like they used to until much later in the season and once they do migrate south, they never have to leave the refuge because they have so much food available for them. 15 years ago, I used to limited out almost everytime I went hunting with my cousins, I haven't killed more than 1 or 2 birds the last 5 years or so.

That’s the same song we were singing in 1976.

They are not here in NE Alabama either. Fair amount of juvenile Gadwalls.

I had a discussion the other day with a guy about migration. DU and Feds are killing us down south. Birds can lock up for days on open refuges and never move. We need for season down here to start 30 days later. We always have more birds in February than any other month.

My buds who are hunting across Arkansas reported lots of birds taken on Sat Dec 16 2018. Next day, not so much.

I'd take a two canvasback day any day!

Been killing a few goldeneyes and bluebills on the lake. Been killing a few mallards in the backwater. Saw a ton of high ducks and snow geese this morning. Need some new birds...

Quit duck hunting years ago. Not enough birds in the Atlantic flyway to make it worth the effort... Not interested in shooting Buffleheads or Magensers. We see most of our ducks after season closes. With so few birds around I cant understand the current bag limits either.

With all the effort that goes into local waterfowl counts at the state, federal and international levels , it has always surprised me that these reports are not rolled up into a weekly flyway migration status report.
