Looking at booking a hotel for the classic, is Knoxville a fairly safe city or are there certain areas to stay away from? Any hotels be worth looking at?

We usually stay south of Knoxville around the Cedar Bluff/ Farragut area of I40. Good hotels and plenty of restaurants to eat at. It is a good area and not a bad drive to UT campus.
How far is that from launch and expo stuff
Its about a 20 min ride, 16 miles to Volunteer Landing.
Thanks!
You can save some $ and possibly have an easier time finding room availability by booking through B.A.S.S. Go to the Bassmaster.com site. Click on tournaments, then Classic, then attend, then click on either National Travel Systems or Visit Knoxville Housing (Attendee Hotel Rates). You can search for rooms and book one right there. I had much better luck there than contacting the hotels directly.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
It seemed that all the ones close were sold out already
Then again I didn't search through BASS to see if they had rooms blocked

Booked at the Holiday Inn over in Cedar Bluff! Thanks for the input
I booked the Holiday inn Alcoa/airport. Is that a decent area? Looks like I can walk to a few restaurants. 21 minutes to Volunteer landing.
Should be fine. Be careful on Alcoa highway. Lots of traffic going WFO at times. Also good access to the Smokey's and Cades Cove, if you're interested in a side trip. Enjoy your stay.

If you could only go one day what would be the best day to go? Final day?
I was looking at the area hotels when at a Tennessee Rest Area last week. The rooms over in Kodak/Severville/Pigeon Forge are ridiculously cheap in the Winter--40 miles from Knoxville.
When I stay in Knoxville, I usually stay at the LaQuinta at Cedar Bluff exit in West Knoxville. It was like a home away from home some of my work years. They have really good restaurants close by including Puleo's Italian next door and a Famous Dave's across the street.
If you're having problems finding rooms, there are about 10 decent priced hotels on Merchants Drive exit on I-75, one exit north of I-640.
I have also stayed on the east side of town at Strawberry Plains exit where there's another Puleos and some decent hotels.
I'm staying at our house on watts bar. Need to plan where I'm putting in at to spectate.
