    Preventing Mildew....

    Good morning all,

I am taking the boat in this weekend to be winterized and I will be driving through the rain. How do I dry the boat out before it gets shrink wrapped? I really don't want to travel with the cover on as it is not a travel cover and it may get damaged.

Is there anyway to dry a boat out in 1-2 days in 30 degree weather? Not looking good.

Even opening it up during the day this time of yer might not do it totally. Wonder if you could put the cover on loosely and blow a fan underneath for awhile. Or put a heater underneath somehow safely.

Your best bet would be to cover it as best you can. If you can, when you get her home shop vac up as much water from carpet as you can. If you can cover it and safely place a heater on low and a fan on low. This should dry up the damp carpet in a day. If the carpet is soaked it will not work that's why you need to suck up the water with a shop vac.

A couple of box fans and a small fan for the rod locker is what I use when I need to dry the boat in a hurry. Sometimes with the cover on.

4 Days in the sun should dry it. It will take forever with fans especially if it gets soaked.

Sunday to Wednesday in NJ perfect drying weather.

    Winterizing and shrink wrap ?

No. It will get warmer inside from the sun hitting the shrink wrap and mildew may grow. My last boat had a cover that didnt "breathe" and i had to clean mildew every spring. My Lund cover has boat vents stitched into the cover. I dont recall ever cleaning up mildew since I've owned it.
