I was there for the afternoon mostly, there were some good, impassioned comments by several folks, but yes it was lighter than I expected. I also did not realize you had to sign up in advance to make comments, which is completely my fault for not being prepared - it was my first time attending a FWC meeting and I wasn't aware of the protocol.

To be honest, I got a "we hear you, but we're not really listening" vibe from them overall, which is really disappointing.

You’re both completely right. “We” love to bitch but won’t show up to a meeting and be heard. Guys our government is supposed to work for US but WE habe to educate them. I can guarantee you these decisions are made blind. They schedule them during the spawn? Who knew? Which spawn! There are fish spawning all the time.

Those “in power” rarely know the details, they delegate. It’s up to us to step up!

Eliminate lobbying and you’ll have access to discuss the issues.
Until that time, you’re just pissing in the wind and on your shoes.
Honestly, we need a national push to make lobbying illegal.
Canada and other countries banned it long ago, there’s a reason.

Fished yesterday and I was shocked to see every mat was nuked. Laying on top of every mat was dead fish. Such a sad sight to see.

I went out to Harris and hit the spots I had been getting them on traps and spinnerbaits. Grass is all dying. Could no longer rip the trap through the hydrilla without it breaking free and messing the trap up... SAD, SAD, SAD. We only caught 4 largemouth and 1 Hybrid that weighed more then the 4 large mouth combined.. 3.5 pounds... Give it a week or 2 and the bass will adjust, they will move back to the pads, Kissimmee grass and eel grass. Just sucks though because the water quality is going to suck for a few months.

There was a tournament sat & sun on Harris and I was texting with a guy from here that was fishing in it. I told him I was on Tsala-Apopka and fishing in large pad fields. He sent me pics of areas I knew and the pads were in different stages of deterioration from being sprayed. It infuriates me!

I know it’s early but I know I was catching males off beds with a swim jig...well that option isn’t there for the bass in Harris for sure!

It was bad...I finally found some pads that hadn't been sprayed at the mouth of the Dead River on the Eustis side.

In our little club tournament...the leading weight on day 1 was 8 lbs. Granted, these are old timers that are stuck in their ways of fishing these bodies of water....and the fish are obviously not doing what they are normally doing...

I think the spraying has tons to do with it.

    Wishin' I was fishin'...
