    2018 Ranger 521L powered with 250 SHO

Looking for anyone who has a 521L powered by a Yamaha 250 SHO. I want to compare my data with theirs to see if I’m getting the most out of my rig with a full tournament load. I’ve run it with a 24P T2, 25P Tempest Plus, 26 Fury and a 26.5 Bravo 1XS. Full fuel tanks, full livewells, tackle and two big guys I can only get about 65 mph. According to Ranger the top speed of a 2018 521L is about 67 mph. I’ve heard guys saying they are getting 70 mph out of their 521L so I would like to see what they are running. Preferably I would like to find someone running a SHO. Thanks in advance!.

There can be 3 mph difference between 10 different identical hulls.
There can be 3 mph difference between 10 different identical props.
There can be 3 mph difference between 10 different identical motors.

So you could see 9mph difference between 2 identical boats.

It doesn't make any difference what anyone else is running. Setting you boat up will be different. Motor height, load, elevation, etc all play into this. Make sure you are getting full pull on your throttle/hot foot.

Also, Don't believe everything you read on the net or hear at the docks.

65 that loaded is probably really close to real world numbers. That's a big heavy boat.

That's about all you're going to get out of it. The guys running 70-72 in 521's are running in cool weather with light loads. The 520 guys are struggling to run in the 70's loaded with the L hull
