    Duckett vs ALX

I am wanting to add a few more rods to my arsenal. My main goto rods have been duckett micro magic as I have several of them. I have been watching post here and it seems ALX rods get a lot of rave reviews. I would like to know how ALX IKOS compares to Duckett Micro Magic’s from those who have fished both. They are in the same price range.

I've used both and the ALX is both more sensitive and much better built.

ALX, more sensitive, better balanced, just a better feel.

No comparison, alx for the win. In terms of value, sensitivity and durability

Alx. Almost every duckett rod I’ve held had a bent blank and the eyes were crooked, most were at 11 o’clock

Duckett rods come with a free pair of binoculars so you can watch other anglers that catch fish and move in on their spot!

No question ALX. Far superior in every way unless you enjoy ugly white rods. I have only used the Zolo B series and they are very impressive and the selection of rod models is excellent. Their rods are quite versatile as well.

Wow pretty unanimous! Thanks for the responses. My son and I fish kids tournaments and on weekends. Is the Zolo worth the extra money and as weekend anglers would we see much benefit over the IKOS?

This perspective will impact responses here just about as much, and more for some, than actually feedback on the rods. Your best bet is to try an ALX rod and see how it works for you.

I have rods in all three of the ALX line. IKOS, ZOLO, and ENOX. To me you get the best bang for your buck with the ZOLO line.

I own several Ducketts, Cashions and ALXs Zolo's and with out any doubt the ALXs are superior in sensitivity, quality and finish.

I haven't fished the ALX rods yet but my duckett micro magic's tip was slightly bent to the left and it started to turn yellow in some area of the blank.

ALX and Duckett are not even remotely comparable and I don’t own either brand. Go with ALX.

I used all Duckett for a couple years, then all Loomis GLX, now all ALX (both IKOS and ZOLO) for the last 2 seasons. 100% no comparison between Duckett's and ALX (IKOS or ZOLO). Go ALX and you will be VERY happy!!

Like comparing ribeye to hamburger. AlX=ribeye, duckett=burger.

    This was my favorite response.

I have a ALX Ikos Soul. Very happy with the rod. I'm looking to add the Zolo Trickster and Promise in the near future.

I have a couple Ducketts that I bought solely because they were on sale. Should’ve saved my money! They fish ok but for the money there are much better rods and I don’t dislike Boyd!

Thanks for the responses everyone! There are not any ALX dealers near me so I cant lay hands on one. Ive been fairly happy with my ducketts but if there’s a better rod at the same price point I’m all about researching into it. I’ll definitely be looking at trying an ALX. Maybe they will run a sale.
