    Dobyns Xtasy - 754C

Has anyone had any experience with the Xtasy series? I have the opportunity to get one for right around $400. How do they compare to the Champion HP and how do they compare to other rods in their MSRP price range (NRX, etc.). Thanks and best wishes on the water!

I just bought the 753. Only fished with it once, but my experience is comparing it to a Dobyns Extreme 744 ( which i throw 80% of my time fishing because I just can't put it down ). I would say the 753 is on par with the 744. The blanks are about the same size, but the reel seat on the 753 is about 3/4" lower on the rod. My guess is this was needed to make the rod more balanced. 753 is noticably lighter than the extreme. 753 has better cork handle and the guides are solid. Also, the reel seat nut is aluminum and a lot nicer than the extreme. If you're throwing soft plastics and need the sensitivity, the Xtasy has a lot more feel than the 744 extreme... And I think the 744'extreme was already pretty damn sensitive to begin with. Is it worth $200 more? Rich people say yes and poor people say no... I bought mine on TW Black Friday special and it was $440. I love Dobyns rods, so call me a 'homer'. I have a Steez, GLX, a PowerTackle, GRod, and several other brands. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you get it... If you don't like it after you get it, I'd probably buy it off you assuming you'd sell to me what you paid ( assuming it's $400 :).

I got a 753sf and plan on buying more - I didn’t expect to be this impressed with it honestly.

Extremely light weight and sensitive - as sensitive as anything I have ever used. I run a bunch of Extreme spinning rods now with the 741 being one of my favorites. This 753 is an inch longer and two powers heavier and still lighter than the 741. The AAAA cork is amazing. I would put this rod up there with the best of them. If you have specific questions I'm happy to answer just let me know.

True - very similar to the extremes. Fast crisp action with good backbone - none of the extremes or xtasy models are light and whippy like certain model champs and sierras.

Sounds good. I got a 704s champion sitting on my bench needing repair for a friend and that rod is rated to 1oz I believe being a MH and I have M spinning rods that are much more powerful than that blank

I have heard great things about the Xtasy since I first posted. Called The Tackle Trap and the guy I spoke with told me his buddies who are diehard NRX guys have a lot of confidence in the Xtasy and said the build quality is amazing. I heard that the 754 Xtasy is sort of in between the NRX 893 and 894.

Would make it similar to the NRX 877?

Wanted to resurrect this post... anyone else have any feedback on the Xtasy rods? Also, what would be the best models to compare with a 704 and a 744?

I have been very happy with my 754C so far. It's paired with an SV103XS and 16lb. Mizu Blue Sunline. Mostly fishing jigs with it (3/8-1/2oz.).

I've been using the 755 and the 724. Really impressed with both. The sensitivity is awesome!

I have the 754 paired up with an MGXtreme2. Feels like i'm almost not holding anything! I don't have enough use with it yet to give a suitable opinion. After I get some more time on the water with it i'll let you know what I think. Mostly going to throw 1/2 oz football jigs and some big worms on it.

    HI guys,

thinking of adding the 754 or the 755 to the arsenal with the crazy deals that are going on right now.

I currently have a ZBONE 7'6 MH (1/4-1oz) and a Steez AGS 7'9XH that I use for my bottom contact techniques. The ZBONE I use mainly for worming and smaller (up to 3/8oz) Texas rigged plastics while the Steez is used for the heavier (3/4oz -1.5oz) Jigs and pegged plastics.

So, I am looking for something in between. A dedicated jig rod for 1/2oz Jigs that I would use mostly in open water (with some medium cover pitching every now and there, for the heavy stuff I would use the AGS). So, wondering which of the two (754 / 755) would fit my needs best.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Cheers,
    Seb.
