    Thought this was pretty cool....

I don't think you need a facebook account to view...It must have been some type of flooded corn field then the water left but the ice stayed.......

When I was a boy the my river rose up on my grandfathers fields like it did during a lot of rain. It froze similar to that picture but was on the ground. We would ride the sled down the hill and when it hit the ice we would pick up speed. Good time.

    Pretty cool.

I lived near a boat launch on a tidal river years ago. One year the first deep freeze came while the river was flooded into the parking lot. A week later the water had receded but there was a thick layer of ice at the original high water mark. I was walking my dog and a guy set up to go ice fishing. He ran his power auger in the old ice that was laying on the black top with no water. I happened to be near him and couldn't believe what I saw as the stones came flying out of the hole. I pointed out his error to him.

I have seen this in a smaller scale. Walking on ice, to ice fish we broke through a 6inch gap... It was 1/2 inch of ice on top of 6in of snow on top of 1ft of ice... LOL As we started breaking through, all of us were looking at eachother like we were going to die.

Fished like that one time and fell through. Luckily I was able to fall forward and ended up to my waist one leg and crawled out.

A few years back we had something similar happen here at a county lake. Can't remember how many kids died when the ice collapsed and crushed them... Was right around Christmas time... Dan
