    Ultrex shaft adjustment question

Does anyone know how to adjust the shaft up on an ultrex? So the head sits up higher?? Just got one and don’t want to go yanking on anything... only thing that came with the motor was an installation guide. Thanks for the help!

Loosen the knob on the shaft collar located between the head and steering box .. raise to desired height-- slide the collar down and re tighten. Can't be done when motor is stowed..

You can do it easily partially stowed, but not completely locked down. Fully stowed the shaft is flexed and under tension, just need it at an angle to remove the tension.
I prefer to make the adjust that way rather than with the motor deployed and taking a chance of falling out of the boat messing with it.
I put two collars on the shaft to have a minimum and maximum motor depth, then use the adjustment collar for the height setting. That way I don't have to guess what depth I have moved it when I do change it. Also if the adjustment collar has a tendency to slip like some experience, the top collar prevents dropping too much.

Ultrex came with a collar to limit the up adjustement.

The quest does not and it needs a 1.5".

The Ultrex Quest I just got has a totally redesigned collar------ looks to me like it will work much better than the original

That has nothing to do with the limiting up movement so you dont hit 360 etc...

Mine does. The Ultrex Quest I just got has the collar attached to the steering box. You have to release the latch to raise shaft up or down.
Either that or I'm getting a lot weaker than I thought.

That clamp is on my quest too, it was also on the ultrex, yours isnt different. That clamp is what holds it in the raised position.

The post you quoted me in is about a COLLAR that gets installed on the shaft UNDER the motor so when you lift the motor up it has a STOP and lifts to the same point every time.

Ultrex came with the collar. Quest do not.

    Gotcha !
Guess they were like me and figured you didn't need the bottom stop since it won't raise without loosening the top clamp. Unlike the original.

I raised Ultrex troll shaft using the clamp idea 12/31/23 so cannot slide back down... much better for 90% Fla. shallow water...test on water in a week or two. Amazon has the clamp 2C-131-A.
