Looking at a 2001 BassCat with a 2000 200HP EFI motor on it....buyer isn't sure if it is a 2.5L or 3.0L block can anyone help me with this?

He said the serial number IS OT101680

Also is this motor able to record hours ?

    Thanks,

It's a 2.5 and no it doesn't record engine hours.

0T101680 is indeed a 2.5L engine, Manufactured on 9/03/99. Mercury doesn't use years, so the serial number is really the only ACCURATE identifier.

This engine does NOT have the ability to record engine hours. It's Cummins-style ECU is not equipped with those features.

Excellent example of why the Engine serial number is REQUIRED.
