    New Product Alert

NEW PRODUCT ALERT from Precision Sonar ...
Due to popular request we have developed a Trolling Motor Heading Sensor / External Antenna Mount. This new product eliminates drilling holes in the deck and places the sensor/antenna where it will be most effective. Pre-drilled and can be mounted to virtually any Bow Bracket.

Ext antenna puck would be blocked from some lower horizon sats. Would have improved signal to permit best location accuracy if mount were remade with offset vertically having puck location higher than the close sonar unit.

I made something like that 6 years ago and had to raise the puck above the unit.

The Minn Kota heading sensor (electronic compass) can be mounted anywere on the boat as long as it’s aligned with the keel. Next to electronics or other metal is not ideal. I really like the mount though.

The guys at our Installation and Repair facility here on KY Lake have installed a huge amount of electronics and Minn Kota trolling motors. We have witnessed no ill affects of mounting the heading sensor or antenna in this manner. Thats what led us to offer the antenna mount.

    Heading sensor installation instructions.

Do not install the Heading Sensor near ferrous metals or near anything that may create a magnetic field or interference. The Heading Sensor must be installed at least 24” from magnetic or ferrous materials on the boat including the base of the motor. Installation near the motor lead wires must also be avoided due to magnetic fields being created during high current draw situations.
