    Battery Switches

Looking at adding a separate 12 volt battery for my added electronics/NEMA. Currently run the electronics via a dedicated line to the fuse block under the console from my starting battery. Should I get a battery switch that allows me to turn everything off, just the electronics on, just the starting motor on, and all on ? Do they make such an animal ?

Also if I get a 12 v deep cycle battery and the starting battery is low, can I start the motor via the deep cycle ?

If you get the right switch and use the right gauge wire between the switch and batteries and for the ground, yes. You would need the battery selector switch. It would connect between the two batteries.

To run two batteries powering two circuits and needing just the one switch to "turn all off" takes a special switch. It also needs an ADD (combine) position in an emergency to have the deep cycle help a low cranking battery start the engine.

Search Blue Sea Systems and Dual Circuit switch.
