Has anyone here had a nearly impossible to diagnose issue with interference on their sonar from their Terrova? in 2015 I switched from a Power Drive v2 to a 1 year old Terrova and as soon as I hooked it up to my garmin 93sv, I noticed absolutely crippling amounts of interference as soon as you touched the pedal. It did the same thing with both the US2 transducer as well as the Garmin transducer. Over the course of the year, I tried it all... ground testing from all over the place, new batteries, wiring outside of the boat, the inner fuse, a ferrite ring, changed the prop etc. Nothing worked and nothing improved the situation even slightly. Over the winter I swore I would bring the motor in to a dealer to have it checked out and by the time I finally decided to go, the 2018 season had started so I suffered through another season with heavy interference.
Well, the boat is getting winterized this week so I yanked the motor off and brought it to the repair place to finally get it looked at last Thursday. I plan to add Livescope this spring so I need to get this solved. Yesterday they called me to let me know that they are 100% able to recreate the issue in their test area so we now know it has absolutely nothing to do with my wiring in the boat or the batteries. They also tested all the ground connections and after speaking to a Minn Kota technician, checked that there was no arcing or contact from the brushes within the housing. So far everything checked out fine, so next up they are going to swap out the main controller board to see if that helps and do a resistance test on the armature blades.
Has anyone else had this kind of issue? Curious what ended up fixing the issue or did you just change motors. If they can't figure this out, I wonder if I need to have a serious conversation with Minn Kota about why this is happening in a relatively new unit and that it makes no sense that this can't be fixed and if they can do something for me.
Thanks for reading :)
