    stored motor

I have a '99 200hp efi that has set for a little more then a year. What would be the best way to make sure I don't damage internals when first crank it over. I figure I should pull plugs and kill ignition so no fire. What about cylinder walls and such?

No expert, but I would drain the VST and then pump it back up with an external tank. Pull plugs and check for corrosion which might mean condensation was in the cylinder(s). With plugs out and ignition disabled, you can turn the motor over by hand after spraying a little oil in cylinders or a quick spray with fogging oil, doesn't take much. All back together with plugs in, turn on the key and let the VST pump cycle a couple of times, then fire it up.

Will need a new water pump kit and lower unit oil change for sure.

I'd do everything in this FAQ topic except Optimax specific items such as compressor oiling, compressor strainer, etc. - Recommended Annual Maintenance or Winterization for Optimax Engines
