    Hooked hull????

Is there anyway to overcome a hooked hull to gain performance back?

As long as it's solid in the pad area, you can fill and sand to a straight edge, eliminating the hook. It's best done with the boat items removed and the hull turned upside down.

It's on a Nitro z7 and I don't think there goin to replace it due to I'm not the original owner. They had a run of them that did that and I don't think it's meant to be there. I can get almost no bow lift no matter if I adjust the motor up or down and diff props that I have tried so far. It seems to b about 5mph off what everyone else gets with same setup. Opti 150 and 23 tempest plus. 5300 rpm and 55 mph. It's a rocket out of the hole but can't get it to ever free up. Any suggestion are welcome. I love the boat other than this issue

Either use a straight edge against the hull to check for a hook yourself or find a different shop to check for a hook. At least you will know for sure.

There about a 1/2" gap with a straightedge on it

Is that on the center pad or the outside chines?
    Outside would be designed
    Inside would be a problem

If you have a half in hook on the running pad, I would not waste my time on repairing it. I would sell it to a buyer that is not concerned about speed so much and be sure to tell them about it. That would require some special skills to repair properly
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Has anyone had success smoothing a hooked hull with some type of filler?

Like Pat asked is it on the pad or on the outside chines. Some boats have a hook at the rear to get transom lift.

if the mfg. used a tad extra hardner in lay-up with age glass will shrink and a hook could slowly develope, no easy fix, 1/2 gap but over what distance? if its a 4 ft straight thats a big, big hook. use a string line as long as possible to measure total hook. dont confuse waves in bottom with hook.

    Dunno...
    What boat is it?
It might affect performance, it might not, until details are brought out we'll never know.
