I need to round up some extra funds and get one. You think the Comp is worth the extra...?

I talked to lifeline today and they recommended the comp. basically the sport wasn't much more than the 100mph mustang that I have . We'll see.

If your considering a Lifeline you need to get the comp for the extra protection with the Kevlar flack panels, helps if you get thrown around in or out of the boat. I've had one for a few years and wear it when I'm trying to go fast, otherwise I wear a BPS vest with leg straps for fishing and other stuff. The sport vest is nothing more than a good regular life vest. What ever you buy hopefully it won't be needed, mine hasn't.

I have both the Comp and the Sport. There is a MAJOR difference between the two in terms of stiffness of the foam and torso protection. The Comp vest has what they call Flak material in it for torso protection, the Sport does not. I wear the Comp on all top end runs or when I’m testing a new prop or setup. I wear the Sport when I am out fishing or I give it to my passenger and wear the Comp when two are in the boat. The Sport is still a good vest and I think it is better than over the counter life jackets. But the Comp is definitely the one to get.

Comp (Older version) vs. Sport vs. Bass Pro with leg straps

I never wear my sport. Compared to the comp it feels marginally more protective than the Bass Pro Vest.

I have 2 of the BPS vests for fishing, I am considering another Lifeline Comp for the passenger so they have the same protection as I have but I just don't stretch the rig out with a passenger.

Is the BPS vest made out of heavy condura fabric like the lifeline sport vest is?

I have the sport jacket and it is head and sholders better than any other Jacket I have seen construction wise not named Lifeline. I would not want to find out but, I think it would still be on you after a high speed impact. The floatation padding is very thick and sturdy. It is not comfortable to wear beacuse its so ridged. I have a Cabelas inflatable I wear 95% of the time. But, after this thread and the one in General Disscusion the other day. I think I am gonna start wearing it more. Havent heard of any deaths lately but, I have a wife and a 6 year old daughter that need me to stick around. This thread is a good reminder...................

Nathan, thanks for posting this. I bought another 170 comp vest so my passenger can have the same protection I have when making runs in the mid 80s and above.

I got on the web and fell in love with the Nitro Comp. So that's what's for Christmas for me. Wild colors. I want to make sure if I fall in I get seen and I want to make sure it is so bright nobody will want to steal it. LOL

I chose Victory design since I think it matches lines of seats pretty well. Blue for the boat and orange for visibility

    Mariner blue bottom
    Neon orange center stripe
    Mariner blue top
    Black inside and inside collar
    Neon orange outside collar
    Mariner blue back
