    2009 Yamaha VMax 150. Help

We are looking at a skeeter zx190 with a Yamaha VMax 150. Just realized is carb not fuel injected. Is this a big deal? Do we need to stay away?

I just traded my ZX 185 that had a Vmax 150 on it. Bought the boat new in 99 and never ever had a problem with that motor. Change plugs and lower unit oil and that was it, never a trip to shop in 19 years. Do some googling and you will find that it is one of Yamahas most bullet proof motors. Mine ran just as good or better the day I traded her, would push my 185 63 MPH all day long. Have the compression checked on the cylinders and if they are good do not be afraid of this motor.

That's one of the most reliable engines Yamaha ever made. Not sure why you think anything not FI should be unreliable or dismissed....

The biggest advantage of efi over carbs is cold starting.

Keep the pilots clean and drain the carbs at the end of the season and you will love how that engine runs. Cj

Love my carbed vmax. Like someone said change plugs and lower oil yearly. I also change impeller and fuel filter/seperator every 2 years. Its deffinetly been a reliable motor since new.

A tip when starting is to make sure the engine is level not trimmed up. I have a 2002 model on my stratos and no issues.
