    TH Marine Eliminator Nut removal...methods?

It seems it was put on too tight...channel locks move it but appears to be stripped or slipping...
    any ideas appreciated?

Was told those 4 small slots are made for some special tool that makes removal easy but I cannot find
    any tool like that online...
    also info/link appreciated...

    PM me or post here...thanx

I would call TH Marine and ask them.

I saw a guy on the ramp cutting his prop away because he could not get it off when he sheared a pin.

I have seen several come in the shop and it seemed to me that the few I had trouble with were over tighten. I used a strap wrench to get off. Don't know if it was too tight from the get go or it tighten itself during use. But the point is it was not easy to get off.

As far as sheared pin. Pretty much what was done at the ramp is what you have to do with these devices. That is not an easy task either.

After troll guy consult...machine shop guy grinder got it off by cutting the actual prop in 2 places ($20 total bill)...
anyway is was all good and under 30 minutes...

replaced it with one of my 2 spares and have another Nut ordered which I will NOT over tighten and
will add a dab of lube at install....here in this area we have a LOT of logs in water under 5 feet deep
so prop gets banged a bunch no matter what.........thanx

Get rid of the aftermarket nut and save yourself another problem in the future. All testing proves that the only difference after buying one is that your wallet is lighter .........

From experience, that shaft is hard to hold with a screwdriver, slot not deep enough. If you use the nut and shear a pin, an impact will spin the nut off.

One thing, if you hit stuff hard enough to drive the pin sideways into the back of the prop you might just as well cut the prop off, no matter whose prop nut you use.

All i have ever done is hand tighten mine and it has always come off fine by hand. A sheared pin isnt fun no matter what setup you have.

If your a tourney guy you had better keep a strap wrench to get these prop nuts off in your boat. Mine was just had tight but hit something to shear the pin and your like to never get it off. We tried everything at the lake to get it off...not a chance. I'm back using the origonal nut. A socket or wrench is much easier to deal with and borrow should you have to.
