    Need more stern lift...

1998 Champion 181, 1998 Mercury 150 Xr6, 23 Tempest plus prop. 55mph is all it will do and it just seems like I cant get the back end of the boat up on pad enough. I do not have a jack plate...Would that help break it loose a tad? I am currently changing out my impeller and have the lower unit off or I would tell you guys my p2p measurement. Any help welcome.

A Jack plate will definitely help. All my prior Champs liked the Tempest best and a lot of bow lift. I even used trim extenders on my 186. Stern lift props were great on hole shot, rough water ride, and overall handling but were not the fastest prop. With a 6" jack plate and a PTP of 3 1/4" - 3 1/2" you should be close to 60 if the prop is clean and all is good with the motor and throttle adjustment.
