The plastic gets hit by rocks kicked up by the tire when you drive over gravel roads. That can cause fractures. When the plastic bracket bends going into and out of the water, and driving down the freeway/hiway those fractures can break and lose the plate in the water or on the freeway. Especially if you pull into or out of the water quickly.

Go to Walmart in the automotive section and get a license plate holder , been doing that on my boats for 20 years and haven’t lost one yet
Well got the bracket in and it's pretty good setup.....shipping was quick, communications from seller were nonexistence until i sent an email....paid thru PayPal but never got confirmation of anything, so i email and he then told me it had shipped and gave me a tracking number......any one that has access to cutting machine and materials could make these fairly easy.
BUT it is a great product. Finally put it on this morning....here are a few pics....

I made one out of truck bed mat. Nylon reinforced rubber flex and won't break. I've used plastic and made one with hinges, I like the rubber one the best so far.
