I figure it happen so fast that they didn't even know that happen.
They (locals) do some crazy (stupid) stuff during the races down there. Some will did holes or trenches across track/road. I know of a racer (motorcycle) that hit a vehicle (none racer) on the track. He got hurt and ruined his race. A race he had been preparing to do for couple years.

I believe those booby trap holes have killed guys in the moto class
I know a rider that got killed down there while doing a prerun... A Mexican cop went to do a U turn and didn't look behind and the rider hit the car square doing close to 100....
Off road racing is dangerous stuff because there are so many variables when compared to track racing..
