    Weather sayings/predictions

My dad had a few sayings about the weather and its prediction. I was just wondering if anyone else has some?

Thunder in February, frost in April. (This is in Texas by the way). If it thundered on the 6th, it would usually frost or at least have a cold snap on the 6th of April.

If the moles were active in the yard, he would say it would rain within three days.

These were true many more times than not.

My Dad. Make sure your snowblower starts before the snow storm starts. He didn't and it didn't. One year old and he's pissed

Rain on Easter and it will rain the next 7 Sundays
Heavy dew in the morning no rain that day
It'll rain a day or two after you hear a rain crow
Just a few I've heard said more than once.

The only thing consistent about weather, is that weather will be inconsistent.

If 10-15 mph wind is forecast you also add the two numbers together to get what the wind speed will actually end up being. Moral of the story, if you can't fish in the wind then dont fish in Texas.

That would be a useful technique on Erie.

That's EXACTLY how it works here on the intercoastal waters. If they're calling for SE winds at 10-15mph, it's going to blow 25!

This is actually taken from scripture...…. not tryin to derail the thread...……
Matthew 16:3-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
3 red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times![a] 4 Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.[b]” Then Jesus left them and went away.

I had no idea where this came from. Being born near Tampa my family had a Grouper boat and a Shrimp boat in Hudson when I was young. I, for coming from a fishing family, get sea sick...unreal! My dad would say this and I would literally hear it every night/morning while at the docks or in the middle grounds.
