    G2N vs G3N?

What are the differences between last years Mega G2N and the newly released G3N? I’m about to ditch my Lowrance units and going with HB. I can a G2N 10” for about the price of the new G3N 9”

The new units have more range with MEGA Imaging plus all the G3 and G3N versions have the Dual Spectrum 2D function.

More range for both SI and DI? Do any G2 units have dual spectrum 2D?

More range for MEGA SI+ and MEGA DI+.

The MEGA DI units in the G2N models have Dual Spectrum 2D.

    Yep.

The G3N's generally have 8000 watts of power output, the G2N's generally put out 4000 watts, so that's some of where the larger range comes from.

But did they fix the shallow depth jumping problem is the biggest question.

If I,m not interested in the extra range a gen 2 is just as good as a gen 3 ? or are there other enhancements?

Just depends on which G2 model you are comparing with which G3--exact model name.

The G3 will have slightly better Images just due to the transducer length difference. The extra power will also make the images sharper. That's two pluses.

The G3 will have Dual Spectrum 2D sonar with the included transducer. The only way to get Dual Spectrum 2D with a G2 is use a MEGA DI transducer and then you won't have SI.

I appreciate the tech info, but I'm just wondering if the dual spectrum 2D is the same as what came out earlier this year with the MDI low q transducer.
People were asking if HB would be releasing a SI version that also has the upgraded 2D.
That's what you get with the new G3N SI?

My understanding is yes, that's what you get with the new gen3 plus more power to see deeper and wider.

Yes, the G3 and G3N units are on the Humminbird website with specs.

If you’re looking for a Gen 2 unit you better hurry. Acc to a vendor I talked to today HB has discontinued the G2 units and inventories are drying up. He only had one Helix 10 SI unit like I wanted left in inventory.

I placed an order for a Helix 10 SI Chirp Mega GPS G2N combo and all necessary accessories today. It’s already shipped.

Just curious, what essential accessories are required for this unit please? Thanks!

For me it was the 9 M SIDB Y Mega Y cable, an AS EC QDE ethernet adapter cable and a new XP 9 HW Chirp 2D shoot-thru xdcr.

It depends on what boat you have and how/where you are going to install it.
