G2N vs G3N?

For any conventional hull design, it comes with an all in one transom mount.

For a glass bass boat many require a splitter and shoot through inhull XDCR epoxied in.

On the TM, a TM mount and possibly RFI filtering.

One sentence questions are hard to answer because they're too open - ended.

I see, thank you Wayne and Robert. My application is very simple, just mount to either the transom or the TM of a bass tracker 175 aluminum boat; no network needed since I already have a Raymarine. Probably no extra accessories (except glue) needed.

The G3 will have slightly better Images just due to the transducer length difference. The extra power will also make the images sharper. That's two pluses.

The G3 will have Dual Spectrum 2D sonar with the included transducer. The only way to get Dual Spectrum 2D with a G2 is use a MEGA DI transducer and then you won't have SI.

Will the g3 use more power than a g2?

If you have one g3 on your boat with g2 units will you have the dual spectrum 2d sonar on all units that select that g3 ducer?

Right now the specs on their website show the same power draw as the G2 units .. it IS possible that is just because they haven't update the spec. on the webpage.

Don't know how the will handle the 2D data sharing.

I currently have a Helix 7 Chirp SI GPS G2N, am planning on buying a Helix 9 Mega Chirp SI GPS G3N. Will I be able to network the Mega SI and DI tranducer to my Helix 7 and see a Mega image or only see the 455 khz image?

You should be able to share 1200 kHz, 800 kHz, and 455 kHz Imaging.

No where that I have seen.

There were some HW Promo units on special sale during Black Friday at Cabelas and Bass Pro. They were a re-release of the discontinued G2N's with HW CHIRP 2D sonar instead of 83/200 kHz 2D sonar.
There may be some still around if you check with those two dealers.

The HW Promo units are somewhat current models with a longer SI transducer and Dual Spectrum HW CHIRP in place of Dual Beam 83/200 kHz for 2D sonar.
The original G2N was discontinued in 2018.

You can IF you change the Connected Transducer setting to the older MEGA SI transducer. The third generation units have HW CHIRP as standard for 2D sonar and have more powerful Imaging (that + thing). So you would loose performance with 2D sonar and Imaging.
