Slideouts......In or Out
I live in PA and have a camper on a permanent site. The camper has 3 slideouts. Is it better to run these in for approximately 5 months during the winter or should they be left out?

I've always run mine in. I think the seal is much better in than out.

I always put mine in for the winter. I leave the top vents open about 1 inch but I do have the Maxx Air Vent covers to keep out rain and snow. I have been doing this for years with no problems nor mildew.

I had a truck camper and I left the slideout out in the winter one year. I didn't know it at the time, but ice got in, melted and rotted the wood frame. Sold it for salvage--don't be like me!

I would pull in the slides,no need to leave them out, letting the snow and ice build up.

I always bring my 4 slides in.
And if it's been raining or in the fall, I get on top of the trailer and blow off the excess water and leaves before retracting. Then I towel dry the slides from the inside to keep down mildew from forming.

Thanks to all who responded to my question............I drove up to the camper, about 100 miles yesterday, and put the 3 slide outs in.

You are quite welcome, a lot of good information on this forum. You will be glad you put those in down the road!
