Just slung my first prop ear.

I traded a 27 trophie for a 28 chopper bout a month ago. Finally got to try it out today. I liked it from the start all the way up to 65 mph then it started vibrating bad. Stopped to check it and it had slung a blade.
Kinda aggravated a little for trading but that's how it goes sometimes. What I'm really upset over now is the fact that I have no fishing gear in the boat and no beer!!! I have about 3 miles back to the dock and I'm idling back at 3.6 mph.
But hey, at least I got to get on the water today!!!

Sorry for the bad luck. At least it didn't take off part of your cavitation plate.
I've got several that are missing an ear laying around. Be a good reason to find a cheepo to carry as a spare.

Does no one carry a spare prop anymore? Who knows maybe the prop had a hairline crack already or was repaired before. There’s always that chance when buying a used anything.

That's the 5th used prop I've bought and the first lemon. I may just carry a spare though.

I carry a spare because we often make long runs in tournaments. It sucks to change a prop on the water in cold weather but it beats being stranded miles from ramp.

I bought a 25 txp that had a little rash on it off craigslist for $100 just to always have a spare if I'm between buying & selling good props.

I always keep a spare too. Slung too many blades for no reason over the years.

    big o tom.

Did not do it with a good prop but I cut 4 pieces of rubber fuel line then slit one side of it to cover front of the blades .. kept it in the back of port storage.

I just re-read the question/answer's and the last post says it is 14" dia. The first post says Yamaha drag props fit but don't give a dia. Did I miss something?

What type/dia props do you put in it? Mine are q4xob's and full blade p4 and p3's. I would hate to spend the money and something I couldn't use.
