I have dual talons on power pole mounts.I put two spacers on port side to keep motor of engine. If I change too minn mounts can I space it without spacers on that side?it is on a Nitro Z9,it throws a large amount of water on the port side.

Power pole mounts are a fixed position mount so you have to buy a mount that is made for the angle of your particular transom. They offer multiple mounts so pending what boat you have, you will need a specific mount. The Talon mount is universal. It has slots made in the channel that give you several degrees to move forward and aft in two different places on the mount. Plus it has two different holes where the arm mounts that that allow you to have some height adjustment. Plus there is slots in the part that mounts to the jackplate that gives you some height adjustment. Some jack plates require a little modification for a universal talon mount and some bolt up with no issues. The Talon mount is built like a tank. Its almost too heavy duty. In fact I bet they could be lighten up by 1/3 and still be strong enough to hold a Talon solid in place.
They make two kinds. One that mounts to the side of your jackplate and one called a sandwich plate. The sandwich plate is what people use if they do not have a jackplate. It has a large plate that goes in between the motor and transom. You have to remove the motor to install it, hence the name sandwich plate...The side mount looks like the sandwich plate minus the large plate. It simply bolts to the side of the jack plate. Anyways look at one and you will see how you have multiple angles you can adjust to hence the word universal.

You can beat the prices in the link I posted. This is just what I found doing a google search looking for a good picture.
Thanks
You will want the universal Side mount brackets. They can be adjustable left to right and they are made for the Talon. We carry them and would love to quote them out to you.

FTO will be your best source by far on any Talon product. Power pole brackets although very strong were never designed to carry the weight of the twice as heavy Talons. Hence why the over built (as mentioned above) talon brackets weigh almost 15 pounds more per bracket.
May I ask where you got your bracket weights KK? I will say that I have weighed them on a scale complete with mounting hardware and I suspect they're lighter than what you've been told possibly. I don't mind the extra bulk, those brackets are built like a tank and I have no fear of them moving or flexing whether I'm running hard or Talon'ed down in heavy current.
I have the number on my computer at home but remember it being around the 18 lb mark.
weighed one here we came up with 19.65 lbs ( digital certified shipping scale) , so with a power pole bracket coming in at 5lbs (official weight from Powerpole and weighed here) that looks to me like almost 15 pounds heavier as I originally stated. Its no doubt a talon bracket is stronger not arguing that hell you could prob hang your boat from one. Overbuilt IMO and what carry all the extra unneeded weight. you take the already much heavier talon and couple it with the overbuilt monster bracket and you come in with a duel powerpole setup coming in with less weight then a single talon.
The ppbrackets seem strong enough but the port talons motor housing rubs my cowl.I put two pp spacers too help but have a Very large spray that covers the whole port pole.looks like a change is in order of fame out spacers.do sponsors here so phone c c orders no paypal
I weighed all of my components on my shipping scale as well. I do not have access to an actual power pole bracket to weigh it but I was told 9 lbs, could be wrong though.
direct quote from Power Pole tech..."Our side mount adapter brackets are about 5 lbs a piece or 10 lbs for a dual kit. There is an additional brace that is required for use with the 10 ft Blade only that will add an additional 2.5 lbs" PP Weights were confirmed on our certified scales... not sure who told you 9lbs they may have been quoting weight for a pair not a single.
Anyone ever just get sick and tired of listening to KK always bashing any product but PP... we get it you sell PP yay great how about you quit comparing everytime you see an opening ...
... I wasnt bashing I was simply making a statement about how Power Pole brackets were not designed to carry the weight of talons. ( Very true statement) no bash there.. then was actully asked where I got my weights from stating I had wrong information. I simply answered Mark im sorry if you feel thats bashing as you can see above I actually reffered the OP to the best place to purchase the correct brackets. If giving the correct information (weights) on Talon brackets is bashing the product in your eyes then so be it. Its funny anytime the facts are given out about Talons its misconstrud as bashing .. If you actually look back there are many many posts where I state there both good products and a customer has to choose the product thats right for them and Im happy to refer anyone looking for the Talon product to Bassman25.
Personally I dont see anywhere where KK was bashing the product. Hes simply making a statement of the facts.. talon brackets almost weigh 3 times as much" bash no ..fact yes. When I was looking for anchors I was unsure what route to go Kk was nice enough to explain to me the pros and cons of both , he never once bashed the talon product. He actually told me if I decided to go that route to call bassman25. In the end I choose Powerpoles, however he in no way influenced my decision. Maybe you just dont like the guy who knows but I dont see any bashing going on just the facts..so wrong info isn't out there.
If you wanna see what actual bashing of a product is go to boat and trailer bling under the new transom saver thread and look at Mark and especially DaveD wrote about motormate now that's what I call trashing a product...
Not this Mark
KK, the information I was given was from shipping weights listed, this is what I was told when I asked.
your right for sure not you lol.... take a look at the sticky titled "weights" at the top of this forum 3rd post down. Think there you will find the relevent weights of the Power Pole brackets direct from Power Pole tech department. Hope that clears things up and we can keep this on topic and get back to the OP original question.
A couple of pictures one is a powerpole bracket that came off a 520 Ranger being weighed on a shipping scale. I didn't have the MinnKota Talon bracket available to weight. The other picture is of the port and starboard brackets that came off the 520. As you can see, one side didn't fair too well when caught in rough water on Sam Rayburn. BTW, PP replaced the brackets. If you were going to compare with strength for the MinnKota bracket to the PP bracket, we should be weighing the dual braced bracket from power pole. I don't have one of them for comparison.
BTW, I don't post much on this forum as I keep my hands full moderating the Electrical board, but I do carry / sell / service the Talons as well as selling the power poles.

Actually John, both of the pp brackets in your pic are bent. I originally had pp brackets on my Gen 1 8' Talons. Dealer told me that the original mk brackets weren't too good and I okayed him using the pp brackets. Twice during the 4 years, I had to have both pp brackets in to a machine shop to be re-straightened. MK changed their design and I'll agree with K & K, they are over-designed and built like a tank....and I'm glad they are. I've mounted a Twist step emergency ladder to my mk brackets and have stood on it in the shop and they don't move.....neither do my 15' Talons. They are heavier than the pp brackets....but sometimes, I prefer quality over weight and even if I ever changed my mind on the Talons and switch to pp in the future, I'd buy the mk brackets if they fit.
Ernie
My pp brackets are two parts each with each having a brace that brings the weight up. don't believe they will bend as at 260 I have stood on them.If I keep the boat will probably change mounts as there is a Massive amount of water that covers halfway up the port talon.

I guess my question is anyone with a z9 with talon mounts have the issue of water bathing the talon and not hitting the cowling?? Thanks!!
