    Atlas jack plate size

    I have a 1999 Triton, TR21 with a 2016 Mercury 250 Pro XS with two 10 ft talons.
What size atlas jack plate should I purchase?

    I have a 10 Atlas but I'm running a 250 SHO on a 2008 TR21-X HP so don't know if that would help.

10" is the best size for your combination.

Savage probably knows better than I, but back in 2002 while I was at the factory in Ashland City I asked about setback. Their guys said they had tested all different sizes and 6” was recommended. 8” was Ok they said but not much difference from the 6 to warrant paying extra and 10” they said the fuel economy began to drop off. I guess it’s all a trade off on what you want, but they said 6” was all around best setback for the early model year Tritons. Probably not the same for the X, XS, TrX, etc.

With the load of the Talons I wouldn't run more than an 8" plate.

I have tested both 8" and 10" plates on my TR-21.
    10" is the fastest....
    8" is slightly slower...

Thank you everyone. I ended up with the 8”. I will provide feed back once it’s all mounted.

That is the correct plate, Triton recommended a 6'' plate back then, but the 8'' will run better.

I am following this because I have a 2004 TR20X and getting a new Atlas JP for it. I am waiting for my new Mercury ProXS 225 4-stroke w/ DTS to come in late winter or early spring to put the combo together. Not sure which size JP I should get either... Was going to go with 8" like Pablo did so any feedback is appreciated.

I run a 10" & it works just fine. Great hole shot & top end but I run the 250 SHO. I don't know if the '99 has a different hull than mine.
