    Unhappy Ranger Z521 Prop Recommendation

Have a Ranger 521 w/250 Mercury Pro xs; running a 24 pitch Tempest. Speed 69mph and 5900 rpm. my goal is to improve mid range and improve fuel economy.
At 40mph I'm 4mpg. At 50 about 3 mpg. To calculate mpg I divide gph on smart craft gage into mph. Example 10 gal per hour into 40 miles per hour= 4 miles per gal. I would like high mid range speed with better economy. I hauling 5 batteries and two power poles and atlas hydraulic plate. I am considering a 4 blade Fury? Any help would be appreciated. I drove Allison for 20 years and this a culture shock!!! Thanks

On my 521C, I liked the Fury 4 or Bravo 1 XS. They both carried a heavy load better (I had dual Talons), speed was a little better with the Fury 4.

I have a 25 pitch Fury 4 on my 2014 Z521C and I would recommend this to you. I run a 25 pitch Fury 3 in the hot summer months.

If you want better fuel economy either slow down or by an 18fryer with a 150. Unfortunately it is a reality that the larger, wider hulls with big motors are going to drink the fuel. Your fuel savings will be minimal with only a prop change.

4 mpg is pretty good imho not sure your gonna get much better than that, I’m sure hull efficiency is far greater with your prior boat.

All holes open is where I’d start.
