    Daiwa Reel Questions

Im going to be spending a week in Florida next month and im hoping to do some flipping and mat punching. Im going to buy a new reel to put on my flipping stick. First off, what gear ratio would you guys suggest? Second, im looking at getting a tatula ct, surely 13.2 lb of drag is plenty enough isnt it? I want to make sure if I hook a true Florida giant in a mat that I can get her in the boat.

When I flip/flip/punch I want an 8.1 or 7.3 reel at least. That 13.2 lbs of drag will be more than plenty. I have pulled some big fish out of heavy cover and slop with mine for as long as I have owned them without any hint of trouble. NEVER have I had a lack of drag. It simply will not be an issue.
Pair your setup with the right rod and you have nothing to worry about.

Good all around ratio is a 7 gear, or around 28-31 IPT. I like a 7 gear personally so that Istill have a good amount of torque. Sometimes its just overkill with 8 or 9 ratio when you are flipping over an ounce.

Thanks for the response guys. I think I’ll pick up a 7.3.
