    New center console day box

I saw a picture recently with a fiberglass day box between the seats on a cat. Is this going to be standard on all the new premium cats. I think this was something a long time coming and definitely much needed. Just wondering if it will be on the Erya if I ordered one the future.

It is an option for install on new product in production.

There is no retrofit order or order after production available.

The do plan to offer it in time. Though the box has to be a smaller fit for previous production models. Spending time tooling molds on new models is the most important for the company. They also will have color challenges when this part is completed. The new Parts Booths in the new complex will help with ability to build parts for after market product.

They simply don’t have room or time now to build retro parts and match colors up on older boats. Waste product on mixing required and time for coloring two small molds definitely is a part of the challenge. To color a mold and glass it requires a process. Each color must be flushed and much of the colors are lost in waste materials.

    Pre Production
    1. Tooling
    2. Mold production
    3. Preparation, sanding, polishing and waxing three parts (3)
    Then production
    4. Cleaning molds of dust and Clear application on flake parts (2)
    5. Mixing matching colors and Flake application (flake colors are not premixed and this is a manual process)
    6. Spray lower inside pan in colored gel coat.
    7. Backup of barrier coat (black) all parts
    8. Fiberglass the parts by Lamination and wet trim
    9. Removal from the molds
    10. Preparation, edge preparation and cutting for assembly
    11. Finish Coloring the backside of the parts
    12. Assembly of the bottom pan inside the lower assembly
    14. Cutting for assembly
    15. Hardware install to the box, hinges, grab handles, latches, trim (2), step pad, cup holders interior pad
    16. Finish assembly for shipment or install.

    Packaging and delivery

Yep, nothing to it and we left out the tools and widgets.

From what I have seen, this new Fiberglass Center Day Box is really nice addition to the boats. Nice job BCB!

I'm thinking of removing the middle seat and add the carpeted box or newer console to make it easier to get on and off the back deck. I know the carpet box is a build and takes a couple of months, is there a time frame for the new glass box for older models (2014 P2)

It's was always something I wanted Basscat to add. I have never bought a Ranger, but that was the one thing I really always liked on the Ranger's. Now I just have another reason to get another Cat. Awesome addition.

basketcase05, nope we had plenty of coffee when that went up.

We more than understand your desire. The situation was a hot topic on this site, the Owners Board and the social media sites like the Owners Group. We felt the need to explain the extensive process for just a smaller storage compartment. When the boat is in production those processes are reduced since they are shooting those colors anyway.

Any estimate as to when that actually might be?

When you say older boat colors, would my 2016 PII in Black Fox be in that category?

They probably will produce measurements for you to use in estimating the fit on various models as they don’t have access to all dimensions.
