Anyone install three group 27 batteries in RT188?

I currently have two group 27’s and one group 24. Looks like 3 group 27’s would fit but very tight to the sides. Has anyone done this?

I seem to recall someone i think it was skeeterbait running either 3 27s or 29s. Its a tight fit tho. 24 series crankers arent really enough anymore with todays electronics plus your optimax requires more as it is.

I have 3 Exide group 31 AGM batteries installed in mine. There is room but you have to have the right battery trays to do it. The trays i used are sold by Bass Cat. They are Aluminum, thin rim, and the holes for mounting screws are inside the rim and not on tabs that extend outside the rim like some. I also put a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood in the battery area and screwed it down first, then screwed the trays on it.

I cut the sides down on my factory trays to make a platform like Skeeterbait and shoehorned a couple of 31 AGM’s in there along with the 27 that came in the boat. It’s a real tight fit back there with batteries.

You’ll need new trays to do it right.

Have 3 group 31 Deka Intimidator AGM's in the back of mine, there is not much room left but they will fit. More capacity they I should ever need but nice to have extra just in case.

Thanks to all that responded and Panama that responded by PM. This is exactly the information I needed. I will pick up another group 27 tray today. I like the plywood sub floor. I was concerned about putting screws on the outside edges of the bilge.
Someday I will probably go with AGM and I will get the BassCat trays but not in the budget now.

Mine came with 3 Deka group 27's from the dealer. plenty of room. When they die, I am going to get 3 northstar group 27 AGM.

My new TM batteries are Duracell AGM 27s. I'm going to put a 31 for the Cranker/Electronics because it's perpendicular to the TM batts. Those new Helix burn some juice.

I'm pretty certain that his boat has never actually been used.

Sure not using it as often as I would like the past year. I need to retire.
